Submersible Mixer
Mixing & Flow Circulation
Keeps treatment tanks homogenized and prevents sedimentation, producing the low tangential flow with force that nitrification, de-nitrification and phosphorus removal depend on. Compact, lightweight and simple to install — in cast iron or stainless steel, from 2 to 15 HP.

What it’s for
Consistent Conditions for Biological Treatment
Biological treatment depends on consistent tank conditions. Left still, solids settle to the floor and the tank stratifies, and the stages that rely on it — nitrification, de-nitrification and phosphorus removal — lose effectiveness. A submersible mixer keeps the whole volume homogenized and in circulation, preventing sedimentation from the start.
The propeller produces a low tangential flow with force rather than a violent stir, so the same mixer suits aeration tanks, equalization tanks and anoxic or anaerobic zones. Used together with an aerator, it lowers energy consumption while maintaining a high aeration rate. The self-cleaning blade stops debris twining around it or blocking it, and the mechanical seal is corrosion-resistant tungsten carbide.

Applications
Where It’s Specified
Keeps aeration and equalization tanks homogenized and free of settled solids. Run alongside an aerator, it lowers energy consumption while holding a high aeration rate.
Creates the circulating flow that nitrification, de-nitrification and phosphorus removal depend on, in anoxic and anaerobic tanks where the contents must keep moving without being aerated.
Holds sludge in suspension and keeps it homogeneous, and drives flow circulation through wastewater treatment basins.
Municipal sewage treatment plants and industrial effluent treatment plants — supplied for new plants, or as an upgrade or replacement within existing treatment infrastructure.
Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Which tanks in a treatment plant need a mixer?
Any tank where solids would otherwise settle or the contents need to keep moving: aeration and equalization tanks, anoxic and anaerobic tanks for nitrification, de-nitrification and phosphorus removal, and sludge tanks that need homogenizing.
Cast iron or stainless steel?
Cast iron spans the full range — six models from 2 to 15 HP, on propellers from 260 to 790 mm. Stainless steel comes in three models from 5 to 10 HP, all on a 620 mm propeller at 480 rpm, for effluent where corrosion resistance matters most.
Can it be added to an existing plant?
Yes — mixers are regularly supplied as upgrades or replacements within existing STP and ETP infrastructure, not only for new plant builds.
Is this the same mixer as the biogas agitator?
Yes — the same PM-series mixers, applied here to treatment tanks. For mixing inside an anaerobic digester, see Agitators.
