Agitator pumps deliver kinetic energy to agitate solids and re-suspend them to a fluid state, so settled slurry can be pumped away. Built for industrial mining and power plants, from 2 to 300 m³/hr at heads up to 45 m.

What it’s for
For Solids That Have Already Settled
Slurry doesn’t wait for the pump. Between starts, solids drop out and pack into a bed on the sump floor, where an ordinary pump draws the water off the top and leaves them behind. The PA Series answers that at the intake: an agitator on the end of the pump shaft, reaching 50 mm beyond the base, stirs the settled solids back into suspension so they leave with the flow.
Fifty-two catalogue models from 1 to 15 HP cover 32 to 150 mm discharges, passing particles up to 135 mm — the catalogue recommends sizing for 40% of the discharge. The agitator comes in FG200/GG20 or high chromium steel, on the same casing, seal and shaft construction as the PS sewage pump.

How does the agitator work?
It sits on the end of the pump shaft, below the impeller, and turns with it. Reaching 50 mm beyond the base, it stirs the solids that have settled at the intake back into suspension, so the pump draws them in as slurry instead of leaving a bed behind.
PA or PS — which do we need?
Choose the PA where solids settle and pack down — in a sump that stands between pump starts, or a slurry that drops out quickly. Where the solids stay suspended in the flow, the PS Series passes them without an agitator.
How do I read a PA model name?
Left to right: the discharge size in mm, the series, then the duty point — flow in m³/hr and head in metres — and the motor in HP. 50PA-25-15-3.0 is a 50 mm pump delivering about 25 m³/hr at 15 m head on a 3 HP motor.
How large a solid can it pass?
The catalogue recommends particles up to 40% of the discharge size: 13 mm on a 32 mm model, 20 mm on a 50 mm, 40 mm on a 100 mm and 60 mm on a 150 mm. For abrasive solids, ask for the agitator in high chromium steel.
