Sewage Pump

Designed for pumping sewage, sludge, effluents or surface water containing liquid mixed with solid or fibrous material — from 2 to 800 m³/hr, at heads up to 45 m, with particles up to 270 mm. For special applications, impellers and casings are available in graded steels.

What it’s for

Built to Pass the Solids Sewage Carries

Raw sewage, sludge and effluent don’t arrive as water. They carry solids and fibre that would clog a pump built for drainage. The PS Series is sized around them: each model passes solids up to about 90% of its discharge — 90 mm on a 100 mm pump, 270 mm on a 300 mm one — and the catalogue recommends sizing for particles of 40% of the discharge.

Sixty-one models run from 1 to 30 HP on 32 to 300 mm discharges; the large ones stand on their own base, most of them at 1440 rpm. Casing and impeller are FG200/GG20 castings, with graded steels for special applications. For water with only soft solids the PDS drainage pump is the lighter choice; for fibrous material and hard dirt, the PC cutter pump.

Applications

Where It’s Specified

Sewage pumping stations

Raw sewage lifted from wet wells and pumping stations towards the treatment plant, at flows up to 800 m³/hr.

Sludge in treatment plants

Sludge and settled solids moved between tanks in sewage and effluent treatment plants.

Industrial effluent

Effluent carrying solid or fibrous material from process plants — with impellers and casings in graded steels where it is corrosive or abrasive. See industries we serve →

Surface & storm water

Surface water carrying silt and debris, from building basements, construction sites and storm sumps.

Compare

Which Sewage Pump?

Point’s sewage pumps differ in what they do with the solids — pass them, cut them, grind them or stir them back up — and at what flow.

  • PS SeriesYou’re here

Passes solids and fibre through a large discharge — 2–800 m³/hr to 45 m, particles up to 270 mm.

  • PDS Series — Drainage

Grey water, drainage and effluent with soft solids up to 20 mm — 1–10 HP at 2880 rpm, up to 100 m³/hr and 30 m.

  • PC Series — Cutter

Stationary and rotating cutters hardened to 55–60 HRC for fibrous and hard material, 2–300 m³/hr to 45 m.

  • PG Series — Grinder

    Solid- and fibre-laden sewage at 2–300 m³/hr to 45 m head — particles up to 135 mm.

  • PA Series — Agitator Slurry

Agitates settled solids back into suspension before transfer — for slurry that has already dropped out.

  • High Discharge — Submersible Sewage

    Sewage and effluent at large-scale flow — up to 3000 m³/hr and 40 m, 20–100 HP.

  • PDC Series — Drainage Cutter

Drainage water and effluent carrying fibres and rags — a cutting impeller and cutter plate, 1–10 HP, up to 150 m³/hr and 25 m.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I read a PS model name?

Left to right: the discharge size in mm, the series, then the duty point — flow in m³/hr and head in metres — and the motor in HP. 200PS-300-10-20.0 is a 200 mm pump delivering about 300 m³/hr at 10 m head on a 20 HP motor.

How large a solid can it pass?

The catalogue recommends particles up to 40% of the discharge size: 40 mm on a 100 mm model, 60 mm on a 150 mm, 80 mm on a 200 mm and 120 mm on a 300 mm. If the solids are fibrous or hard rather than just large, look at the PC cutter or PG grinder pumps.

Can it handle corrosive or abrasive effluent?

Yes — for special applications, impellers and casings are available in graded steels. Tell us what the effluent carries when you enquire, and we’ll specify the materials.

How do we service it without entering the sump?

Install it on an auto-coupling system. The pump lifts out on guide rails with no flange bolting and no sump entry, and its own weight reseals the connection on the way back down.

Tell us the flow, head and solids, and we’ll size the
pump.
