What it’s for

The Everyday Pump for Drainage and Grey Water

Most of what collects in a building’s sump is water carrying soft solids — floor drainage, washing, grey water, light effluent. It doesn’t need a cutter or a chopper; it needs a pump that runs continuously and passes the solids there are. The PDS does that at 2880 rpm, with a vortex impeller on most models and soft solids up to 20 mm, and its impeller leaves a wide passage from suction to delivery so nothing clogs inside the pump.

Twenty-four models across 50, 65, 80 and 100 mm discharge sizes cover flows up to 100 m³/hr and heads up to 30 m, built to the same standards as the rest of Point’s sewage range: CI/GG20 castings, stainless shafts, a mechanical seal and an IP68 motor rated for continuous duty. Where the water carries solid or fibrous material, the PS and PC sewage series take over.

Drainage Pump or Sewage Pump?

The PDS is for water that carries only soft solids. When the solids are larger, fibrous or hard — or the flow is far bigger — another series takes over.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I read a PDS model name?

Left to right: the discharge size in mm, the series, then the duty point — flow in m³/hr and head in metres — and the motor in HP. 65PDS-40-9-3.0 is a 65 mm pump delivering about 40 m³/hr at 9 m head on a 3 HP motor.

When should we choose a sewage pump instead?

When the water carries more than soft solids. The PDS passes soft solids up to 20 mm. For sewage with solid or fibrous material, choose the PS Series (particles up to 270 mm); for fibrous material and hard dirt, the PC cutter pump. For clear water, the Horizontal Open Well pump.

Is there a single-phase version?

Yes — the series is built for single-phase and three-phase 50 Hz supplies. Tell us the supply at your site when you enquire, and we’ll confirm the model.

How do we service it without entering the sump?

Install it on an auto-coupling system. The pump lifts out on guide rails with no flange bolting and no sump entry, and its own weight reseals the connection on the way back down.
