Horizontal Open Well

High Discharge Pump

A horizontal open well pump for clear water in sewage treatment plants — treated water transfer and circulation, filtration units and utility water. Up to 45 m³/hr and 35 m head from six models between 1 and 5 HP, with a cast iron casing and impeller.

What it’s for

For the Water at the End of the Line

By the end of a treatment plant the water is clear, and it still has to move — through the filtration units, round the plant, or on as utility water. The Horizontal Open Well pump is built for that clear-water duty: up to 45 m³/hr, and heads up to 35 m, from six models between 1 and 5 HP.

Motor and pump sit in one horizontal line on two feet: a cast iron (GG 20) casing and impeller, a stainless steel shaft (SS 431 or SS 420) and an oil seal, with a perforated stainless steel strainer over the suction. The motor is three-phase, 50 Hz, rated for continuous duty at 2880 rpm, for clear water up to 40 °C with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5. For water that still carries solids, use a submersible pump such as the PDS or PS Series.

Applications

Where It’s Specified

Treated water transfer

Moving treated water out of a sewage treatment plant — to storage, or on to where it’s used again.

Filtration units

Feeding the filtration units downstream of treatment, where only clear water should reach them.

Circulation

Clear water transfer and circulation within the plant.

Utility water

Utility water transfer around the plant and the site. See industries we serve →

Clear Water or Sewage?

The open well pump is for clear water only. Where the water still carries solids, a submersible drainage or sewage pump does the job.

  • Horizontal Open WellYou’re here

Clear water in sewage treatment plants — treated water transfer, filtration units and utility water, up to 45 m³/hr and 35 m.

  • PDS Series — Drainage

Grey water, drainage and effluent with soft solids to 20 mm — 1–10 HP at 2880 rpm, up to 100 m³/hr and 30 m head.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it pump sewage or water with solids?

No — it’s built for clear water, with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5 and up to 40 °C. For sewage, drainage or effluent carrying solids, use the PDS or PS Series.

Which model do we need?

Read the technical data at the head you need. In the chart, the D models give the most flow at low heads — POHM 50D about 47 m³/hr at 5 m — while the H models keep their flow at higher heads, POHM 55H still about 22 m³/hr at 30 m. The PWS models cover smaller flows on 1 and 2 HP. Tell us the flow and head and we’ll confirm the model.

Is there a single-phase version?

The models on this page are three-phase, 50 Hz. If your site has only a single-phase supply, tell us when you enquire.
